At the end of each working day a total of 30.000 workers, mostly women leave the "Free trade zone" on the outskirts of Managua to head home. The free trade zone is mostly comprised of foreign textile companies, Taiwanese, Mexican and American. All the production is for export to destinations around the world. This is one area of positive employment in a country dominated by underemployment, particularly outside the capital.
